International Arrival Statistics (IAS) - JANUARY 2017

 In January 2017, international visitor's arrivals by air made up 22 % of total visitors to Vanuatu. Visitors by air increased over January 2016 but fell over the previous month.

Visitor arrivals by air stood at 8,957. It increased by 6% over January 2016, but it decreased by (-8) over the previous month. The decrease was reflected by the fall in number of visitors who arrived for holidays and other purposes as well.

In January 2017, 20% or 1 in 5 visitors by air also travelled to outer islands.

Cruise ship or day visitors made up 78% of total international visitors to Vanuatu in January 2017. The day visitors stood at 31,548. It Increased by 12% over same month in previous year, but it fell by (-19) over the previous month.


• In January 2017, Tafea Province received 42% of visitors arriving by air, followed by Sanman Province at 41%.
• Visitors travelling to outer islands spent an average of 6 days.
